Star Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin gave an epic response to a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fan who wants Indian captain Rohit Sharma in RCB next year. Rohit, who has been associated with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, is reportedly looking to part ways with the franchise. Amid reports of Rohit leaving MI, many fans and former greats want the 37-year-old right-handed batter to join RCB in the IPL 2025 mega auctions and lead the side in the world’s richest franchise cricket league next year.
During a conversation on Ashwin’s YouTube channel, a RCB fan said if he was part of the RCB management, then he would go full throttle for Rohit. He was excited about the possibility of having both Rohit and Virat on the same team.
According to him, Rohit can also lead the side, and the decibel levels at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru would go to a different level if the two greats open together.
Reacting to the fan’s wish, Ashwin, who has played for teams like CSK, DC, RR, PBKS, and RPSG, said to sign Rohit, RCB needs to save at least Rs 20 crore.
“Agar Rohit Sharma ke liye aap jaa rahe hai to 20 crore rakhna padega (You need to keep 20 crores with yourself if you want to sign up Rohit Sharma). (From 10:40)
Rohit, who made his IPL debut in 2008 for Deccan Chargers, joined MI in IPL 2011 mega auctions and has been associated with them since then. He is the all-time leading run scorer for the franchise in the cash-rich league, and in addition to that, he has also played the most number of matches and hammered most sixes.
Under his leadership, MI won IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. He was removed from leadership ahead of IPL 2024 auctions last year but went only to play in 14 matches for the franchise in IPL this year and finished as the leading run scorer.
After IPL 2024, he led India to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 title in the West Indies and USA and also finished as the leading run scorer for Men in Blue.
