Too much drama unfolded at the Eden Gardens on Saturday evening when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were chasing 223 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Virat got involved in a furious exchange with the on-field umpire after being given out controversially. But it wasn’t the only animated scene during the game. During the fag end of RCB’s chase, KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir was also seen having a heated chat with the fourth umpire while coach Chandrakant Pandit also joined in.
It was the 18th over of the innings and RCB were very much in the hunt with 31 required off 12 balls. KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer was spotted gesturing something towards his dugout after having a word with the on-field officials.
As the camera panned towards the KKR dugout, Gambhir was seen charging towards the fourth umpire, ultimately getting into an argument. Later, it was learned that KKR wanted Sunil Narine off the field and to be substituted by Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Narine had just completed his spell and the team wanted some less exhausted to field in the final two overs as Bengaluru were making a mark in the pursuit of the huge total.
However, the umpires didn’t agree to KKR’s demand and the hosts had to follow the match official’s call which seemingly left Gambhir furious.

The RCB required 21 runs off the last over bowled by left-arm pacer Starc while chasing a daunting 223-run target set by the Knight Riders. The result seemed a foregone conclusion with Karn and Mohammed Siraj at the crease, but the former nearly turned the match on its head.
Sharma hammered three sixes off Starc to reduce the margin to three runs off two balls. But the most-expensive player of IPL history redeemed himself taking a return catch to dismiss Sharma while Lockie Ferguson was run out of the final ball as RCB ended up at 222 all out in 20 overs.
However, in a match with more twists and turns than a hilly road, it was KKR who first snatched the initiative making 222 for six around opener Phil Salt’s aggressive 14-ball 48 and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s composed 36-ball 50.
