Another Record! Virat Kohli Overtakes Chris Gayle to Top List of Most Sixes Hit for RCB in IPL
Virat Kohli smashed his 240th six in the IPL for Royal Challengers Bengaluru to surpass Chris Gayle.

Virat Kohli overtook Chris Gayle to climb to the top of the list of most sixes by a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday.

Kohli smashed his 240th six in the IPL to go top. In fact, Kohli struck four fours and as many sixes during his fluent knock on the night.

Kohli also completed his 52nd fifty in the IPL after making a classy fifty against Punjab Kings the other night.

He now has 101 fifty-plus scores in the shortest format of the game. In fact, he is now the first Indian and third batter across the world to reach this feat in T20 cricket.

‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle is on the top of the charts with 110 fifty-plus scores and 14562 runs, followed by veteran Australia batter David Warner (109 fifty-plus scores and 12094 runs).

Kohli had also overtook former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Suresh Raina to the top of the list of Indians with the most catches in T20 cricket.

On Friday, Kohli’s skilful unbeaten fifty formed the foundation of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s competitive 182/6. Kohli brought his fifty in 36 balls whereas other batters generally struggled for momentum and timing.

When the othe RCB batters were losing their wickets, Kohli kept going even as the KKR bowlers adopted the pace-off strategy with excellent effect to slow down the proceedings.
