Australia are set to begin their campaign for a second T20 World Cup crown on Thursday. The Aussies rounded off a successful 2023 with triumphs in both the ICC World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup in India. They could now bag a third straight ICC trophy under their new T20I captain Mitchell Marsh. Australia are packed with star batters including the likes of Travis Head, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell. On the bowling front, they have big names like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa.
The Aussies recently beat Nambia by seven wickets in their opening warm-up fixture. Their momentum was quickly brought to a halt after the West Indies smashed 257 runs against them. The Aussies lost that match by 35 runs and will now be itching to bounce back by beating Oman.
Australia’s T20 World Cup opener against Oman will be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 6. Oman didn’t have the best of starts to their tournament, having lost their opening fixture to Namibia in a Super Over. After scoring 109 runs each, Oman fell 11 runs short to seal a victory.
