KL Rahul won a million hearts with his off-field gestures. He kept his promise to a 20-year-old boy, taking care of his college fees. The Indian cricketer has borne the financial expenses of Amrut Mavinakatti, a resident of Mahalingapura in Bagalkote district, to continue his education.
As reported by thesouthfirst.com, Rahul has extended financial aid to Mavinakatti to pursue his B. Com first-year studies at KLE Technological University in the BVB College campus in Hubballi.
Speaking to reporters in Hubli, Amrit Mavinakatti said that KL Rahul had helped him get admission to the college last year and promised, to help him financially in the second year as well.
“Last year, KL Rahul helped to get admission into college. I also scored a 9.3 CGPA in the first year. He stands by his words, and has paid Rs 75,000 for my second-year studies,” Mavinakatti was quoted by the website.
“I thank KL Rahul, Manjunath Hebasur and Bagalkot’s Nithin for financially helping me to continue my studies. I will continue to put sincere efforts to excel in academics,” he added.

Rahul’s career over the past year has been heavily impacted by injuries. During IPL 2023, he suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for most of the season and caused him to miss the final of the ICC World Test Championship. However, he made a remarkable comeback in the Asia Cup later that year, scoring a century against Pakistan. Following his return, he became a regular part of India’s squad in both Test matches and ODIs, including the ODI World Cup.
Unfortunately, Rahul was ruled out at the start of the home Test series against England in January, after scoring 86 runs in Hyderabad and experiencing pain in his right quadriceps. This injury forced him to miss the rest of the series, which India eventually won 4-1.
Rahul returned to competitive cricket during IPL 2024, where he captained the Lucknow Super Giants. He then made his comeback for India on the Sri Lanka tour in July-August. Most recently, he participated in the opening round of the Duleep Trophy, a four-day red-ball tournament that marks the beginning of India’s domestic season.
He recently featured in the 2 Tests against Bangladesh, scoring 106 runs in three innings.
