In the latest interaction with the five-time champions, Mustafizur shared his journey of becoming a professional cricketer.

Mustafizur Rahman hails from a small village located in the district of Satkhira in Kaligang, Bangladesh. He has three brothers, who also have a profound interest in the game of cricket. Mustafizur started playing the sport at a very tender age with his siblings. He participated in several local tournaments. “That’s how I started to bowl regularly,” Rahman recalled.
In one of those tournaments, Mustafizur Rahman found a breakthrough after an older player noticed his bowling. The person showered praise on Rahman, underlining his skill sets. It undoubtedly gave the Bangladesh international a huge boost. Rahman kept grinding and finally made his debut for the country in April 2015, featuring in a T20I against Pakistan. He played his first ODI in the same year against India on home soil.

Before joining CSK ahead of this season, Mustafizur Rahman played for three more IPL franchises since the 2016 edition. The left-arm pacer has been in impressive form in this season’s IPL. His ability to bowl slower deliveries has helped CSK bamboozle their opponents on the sluggish track at Chepauk.
Mustafizur Rahman made a roaring debut for CSK in the inaugural match of the season at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Going up against a formidable batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Mustafizur registered a four-wicket haul. His dominant bowling helped CSK restrict their opponents to 173. The hosts ultimately claimed a comfortable six-wicket victory in the game.

Mustafizur Rahman has been in the fray to secure the Purple Cap of the 2024 IPL. He has already picked 12 wickets in his seven appearances in the competition. Jasprit Bumrah, who occupies the top spot in the Purple Cap charts, has one wicket more than Mustafizur.
