Rising India cricketer Akash Deep paid visit to Ayodhya Ram Mandir after playing a crucial role in his team’s 2-0 clean sweep of Bangladesh in the recently concluded two-Test series. Akash, a right-arm pacer, made his international debut earlier this year against England with a stunning opening spell that saw him getting rid of the visitor’s top three batters in his first two overs.
After completing his India duties, Akash, who was in Kanpur for the 2nd Test, headed to Ayodhya to fulfill his dream which has left him at peace.
“I’ve been dreaming for a long time to have darshan of Lord Ram and especially since the day this temple was built,” Akash told news agency ANI. “I wasn’t able to visit earlier due to matches but have seen the videos of Lord Ram.”

Today, I saw him but it didn’t feel like it was my first time, felt like I’ve been seeing him every day. Lord Ram’s image has been added to my memory since I first saw the videos of him in this temple. I’m at peace now,” he added.
Akash says though he doesn’t visit temples with the intention to wish for something, he did pray for Team India’s success across formats.
“I prayed we continue to play the way we’ve been doing for the country and keep improving. I don’t visit temples to wish for something. God will take care of everything,” the 27-year-old, who has eight wickets from three Tests, said.
“The way we are dominating world cricket across in all formats is an inspiration. It means the future generations will have to continue working hard to maintain the standards,” he added.
Akash, who idolises batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, wishes to life a simple life.
“My aim is to live a simple life and have the strength to keep working hard. Result is in god’s hands,” he concluded.
