India pacer Umran Malik is focused on making an impressive comeback as he gears up for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. Umran has recovered from dengue and is hopeful of hitting the ground running. He is currently preparing for the red-ball compeition at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
The right-arm pacer says he’s feeling better.
“I am feeling better and now I am fully focused on the preparation of the Duleep Trophy at NCA. I hope, I will be doing good in this season for my team,” he told news agency ANI.

Having made his First-Class cricket debut in 2021, Umran scalped 16 wickets in the 12 matches he has played so far.
The youngster gained prominence with his raw pace in the IPL.
Donning a Sunrisers Hyderabad jersey, he scalped 22 wickets in 14 matches during IPL 2022.
He boasted an impressive average of 20.18 and a five-wicket haul too. His stellar campaign also paved the way for his selection to the Indian team the same year.
Umran’s international debut for India came in 2022. Since then, the pacer has represented the Men in Blue in 10 ODIs and eight T20Is, picking up 13 and 11 wickets respectively.
He registered his best bowling figures of 3/48 in a T20I game versus Sri Lanka last year in January. He played his last game for India at Bridgetown, Barbados on July 19 in 2023 against the West Indies.
The Duleep Trophy 2024 marks the beginning of India’s domestic cricket season.
The tournament will feature top Indian stars among others with the national selectors keeping a close watch.
The tournament starts from September 5.
Shubmban Gill, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer are the respective captains of Team A, Team B, Team C and Team D.
Umran will be part of Team C under the captaincy of Gaikwad.
