"I'm Going Home": Ravichandran Ashwin Excited to Deliver in Chennai as RR Take on SRH in Qualifier 2 - WATCH

Rajasthan Royals spin veteran Ravichandran Ashwin is super excited to play the Indian Premier League Qualifier 2 in Chennai. After all, it’s his hometown. In IPL Eliminator 2024, RR defeated Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Now, ahead of the ultimate face-off, Rajasthan, who won the tournament in 2008, released a video of the veteran spinner talking about the scheduled mega clash. Thrilled by the idea of playing in his home city of Chennai, this is what the spinner had to say – “I am going home…Chennai is a very special place. For everybody, their home is a special place”.

Several fans have now reacted to Ravichandran Ashwin’s homecoming in the second qualifier. One of them wished the Rajasthan squad the very best for the knockout fixture. “Best of Luck RR”, he wrote.

Another reminded cricketer fans how the veteran star was a crucial asset for the Chennai Super Kings. “He was an asset for CSK”, he said.

One fan requested, “Ash Anna, help us win our 2nd trophy”.

“Ash Anna, we want your magic in next two games”, wrote another fan.

Ravichandran Ashwin also talked about how he was always comfortable playing in his home city of Chennai in the same interview. Speaking about his performances at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Indian spinner added, “And that’s one place I have always done very well. Also, had a few interesting batting stints when I played in Chennai the last time…So yeah I am looking forward to it.”

The Chennai crowd is widely recognised as one of the most passionate supporter groups in cricket. Despite their team Chennai Super Kings not making the playoffs, Ravichandran Ashwin was sure that his roots would attract some of the fans in his side’s favour. Speaking about the ever-electric environment in Chepauk, the veteran spinner said, “There’s nothing like playing in front of that crowd. And I am sure we will get Halla Bol and Halla Bol support.”

Given the importance of the upcoming fixture, Ravichandran Ashwin was sure that Qualifier 2 of IPL 2024 was going to be a blockbuster affair. “It’s going to be a very interesting game. Can we bring our A-game? Can we be tactically very superior to them? Those are the questions we need to answer over the next 24 hours”, the veteran spinner concluded in the interview.
