IPL 2024 Orange Cap and Purple Cap Updates: Khaleel Ahmed has risen up to third in the purple-cap race following DC's dominant win over GT at Ahmedabad.

It was an all-round dominant performance by the Delhi Capitals as they pummeled Gujarat Titans at their home ground at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT were bundled out for just 89 runs which was chased down by the visitors in just 8.5 overs.

The are only two changes in the run-scoring charts is that Shubman Gill has gone up to the fifth spot after his brief time in the middle while the youngster, Sai Sudharshan is back in the top 10 for the orange-cap race.

It was a collective effort from DC as their bowling unit finally clicked together as they were all over the Titans who were not given any room to breathe as they were all out for a double-digit score for the first time in their brief history.

For the Capitals, it was Mukesh Kumar who was the standout bowler with three wickets for just 14 runs in only 2.3 overs. He got the wickets of Wriddhiman Saha, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. He was supported by two wickets by Ishant Sharma who got the key batters, Shubman Gill and David Miller to keep up the pressure.

Tristan Stubbs also chipped in with two wickets in his lone over which he can thank the skipper Pant for his fantastic glovework from behind the stumps. Khaleel Ahmed also provided one wicket when he got Mohit Sharma through the final stages of the first innings.

Riyan Parag (RR): It has been a breakthrough season for the youngster and backing the right-hander has started to pay off for the franchise as he is one of the best batters following his promotion to the number four position in the batting order. He continues to impress as he scored 318 runs at an average of 63.6 runs and a strike rate of 161.42 runs.

Sunil Narine (KKR): Narine has managed to find himself with the bat once again as he continues to be one of the most important players for the Knight Riders he is in red-hot form following his century knock against RR in their most recent fixture. He currently has 276 runs at an average of 46 with a strike rate of 187.75.

Sanju Samson (RR): The RR skipper is showcasing his class as he continues to impress both as a captain and a leader for the franchise. He seems to have put his woes regarding consistency behind him and has been outstanding at the number three spot for the league leaders, Rajasthan Royals. He currently has scored 276 runs at an average of 55.2 and a strike rate of 155.05.

Shubman Gill (GT): Despite a poor game against DC tonight, the GT skipper has found himself at the fifth spot in the run-scoring charts. However, he will back himself to come back stronger after the devastating loss and continue delivering for the side with both bat and ball. He currently has scored 263 runs at an average of 43.83 and a strike rate of 151.14.

Top 5 Bowlers in IPL 2024 Purple Cap Standings

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR): The leg-spinner continues to impress in the tournament as he has the lead in the wicket-taking charts once again. What’s impressive is that he has been the key wicket-taker for the Royals picking up the wickets of some of the most dangerous batters to put his side with the advantage. He currently has 12 wickets to his name with an economy of 8.34 runs per over.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI): The Indian pacer continues to showcase his class in the shortest format and continues to pick up wickets for MI despite a shaky start to the 2024 season. The side will continue to rely on their ace bowler if they are to have a shot at the playoffs. He currently has 10 wickets at an economy rate of 6.08 runs per over.

Khaleel Ahmed (DC): It has been an outstanding season for the left-arm pacer. Despite the side not clicking as a unit, Khaleel has been one of the bright spots for the side taking up the responsibility with the new ball and also chipping in at the death. Against GT the pacer picked up one wicket to get him up to third in the wicket-taking charts with 10 wickets in his tally but an inferior economy rate than Bumrah keeps him at third.

Mustafizur Rahman (CSK): The Fizz has been a revelation for the defending champions and he continues to impress in yellow, He started the season with a bang and continues to be a key element in CSK’s dominant pace attack. He currently has 10 wickets to his name but his inferior economy rate in comparison to Bumrah and Khaleel keeps him at fourth.

Pat Cummins (SRH): The Australian captain can do no wrong as he leads the side with wickets. The responsibility of leading the side seems to have picked up his knack of taking wickets in what is a high-performing side that most opposition would fear to go up against. He has picked up nine wickets in the tournament at an outstanding economy rate of 7.87 runs per over.
