Batting coach of the Mumbai Indians, Kieron Pollard is all set for IPL 2024 and is looking forward to seeing Hardik Pandya in a new role.

Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard was seen guiding the team at the training session for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket in 2022. He had played for Mumbai Indians for more than 13 years. He then became the batting coach of the five-time IPL champions last year.

The franchise shared a video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and announced Pollard’s arrival. They captioned the post, “Polly is geared up for the new season! Paltan, are you ready? One Family Mumbai Indians Kieron Pollard.”

“I am very excited to see what the 2024 season holds for us. You know second season as a batting coach and we do have new players in the squad into the batting lineup as well. It’s nice to have Hardik back. He has been part of Mumbai Indians for the last five-six years. He has done fantastic things for Mumbai. Looking forward to seeing him in a new role and of course, everyone is here to give him that support. He has the legacy of taking it on as well”, Kieron Pollard was heard saying in the video.

Kieron Pollard has played actively in different leagues worldwide. Pollard had played for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 before coming to India. He was the highest run-getter for Karachi as he scored 239 runs after playing in eight matches, at an average of 47.80 and a strike rate of 151.27. His efforts went in vain as his team could not qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai Indians, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, did reach the playoffs in IPL 2023 on the back of an inexperienced bowling line-up. The franchise did make some decent purchases at the auction held in December last year and have strengthened its bowling lineup by roping in some crucial international players. They will aim to improve their performances from last time and win their sixth title under newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya.

Mumbai Indians will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign with a match against Gujarat Titans scheduled to be played on Sunday, March 24.
