As Pakistan prepare themselves for the upcoming home Test series against England, the star batting pair of Babar Azam and Muhammad Rizwan among others were seen having a go with the bat during a net session ahead of the opening game in Multan.
Rizwan who was the pick of the Pakistan batters during the Test series against Bangladesh was seen practising his power-hitting abilities against the slower bowlers in a video uploaded to X (formerly known as Twitter). From playing on the backfoot to his cut shots and coming down the ground, Rizwan looked to be in fine touch during the practice session.
Babar on the other hand was seen going against Shaheen Afridi in the nets. The left-arm pacer came around the wicket and a few of his deliveries were moving away from the right-hander but Babar drove it away with ease.
Pakistan cricket has been under massive scrutiny since their poor showing in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 followed by their 0-2 series defeat to Bangladesh at home for the first time in history. Questions were asked about Babar’s abilities with the bat as he failed to register any big scores during the recently concluded Test series.
Ahead of the England Test series, Babar also publically announced his resignation as the white-ball captain for the national team which sent shockwaves around the Pakistan cricket community.
The Pakistan Test skipper, Shan Masood was also seen practising his batting in a net session against the pacers. He will also be expected to bring out his best form with the bat to help improve his side’s fortunes in the longest format of the game.
