'Sahi Pakde Hain': DC's Insta Post Rubs Salt into RR's Wound After Sanju Samson's Dismissal Sparks Controversy
The scenes at Arun Jaitley Stadium were chaotic as the RR dug-out was tense while the DC ownership in the stands let their emotions out, suggesting that Samson has to go.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) were chasing a mammoth 222 against Delhi Capitals (DC) and with Sanju Samson doing the heavy lifting, the men in pink seemed to be crossing the finish line easily. The Royals captain was en route to his first century this season but DC pacer Mukesh Kumar denied him that opportunity.

It was the 16th over when Mukesh bowled a slower one at length and Sanju, batting on 86, pulled it flat. The ball was approaching the boundary ropes when Shai Hope appeared at long-on and grabbed the ball with his feet placed too close to the cushions.

The umpires had a close but the replays weren’t clear if Hope completed that clean without touching the boundary. However, DC had the benefit of the doubt and Sanju was given out. The Royals captain wasn’t convinced as he started walking off but returned to the middle to have what looked like a heated discussion with the on-field umpires.

The scenes were chaotic as the RR dug-out was tense while the DC ownership in the stands let their emotions out, suggesting that Samson has to go. The skipper was agitated but had no other option than to accept the TV umpire’s decision and walk off after scoring 86 in 46 balls, with the help of 8 boundaries and six maximums.

Soon after the dismissal, a picture of Shai Hope grabbing the ball was shared on the franchise’s social media handle with the caption reading, “Sahi Pakde Hain (Caught it right),” rubbing salt into the Royals’ wounds. Sanju’s dismissal led to a mini collapse as RR, who were pretty much in control, lost the game by 20 runs.

We had it in our hands: Sanju Samson

RR captain Sanju Samson admitted that the game was pretty much in their hands but ultimately it slipped away. He added had they not conceded a few extra boundaries while bowling, they could have made it.

“I think we had it in our hands, it was like 11-12 runs per over, it was achievable, but these things happen in IPL. Yes, we are doing both things fine, we would like to stick to what the conditions demand, 220 was 10 runs extra to chase, if we had conceded a couple of fewer boundaries, we would have made it through,” Sanu said at the post-match presentation.
