The IPL has not only provided the stage for cricketers from across the globe to play as a teammate but also helped forge deep friendships. It appears that batting superstar Virat Kohli has established an close bond with his Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis so much so that the Indian is now influencing the South African’s fashion choices as well.
Ahead of RCB’s latest IPL 2024 clash in which they run into Punjab Kings, Du Plessis has shed some light on his relationship with teammate Kohli.
“We both love food,” Du Plessis said on Star Sports. “We both are really into our fashion. That’s another thing we spend a lot of time talking about. The way we dress, what style of clothes. We would send each other pictures of outfits and stuff like that.”
However, there’s another ‘terrible influence’ which the former South African skipper also blames on Kohli.
“He’s been a terrible influence on me when it comes to watches, but he’s got a real passion for watches,” the 39-year-old said.

Besides common sartorial choices, the two also have young families and since they all belong to the same age-group, it helps them connect well.
“He’s got a daughter, I’ve got two daughters. He’s got his second child now as well. Our wives and kids, having them at similar ages, (we) really connected at that front as well,” Du Plessis said.
Du Plessis and Kohli open for RCB and have been leading their batting throughout the competition.
With 542 runs, Kohli is the leading run-getter of the season while Du Plessis has 352 runs – the second-most for RCB so far.
The duo produced a scintillating show against Gujarat Titans with a blistering 92-run partnership in just 5.5 overs that culminated into a four-wicket win.
They will hope to carry their form into Thursday night clash with PBKS in Dharamsala and keep their playoff hopes alive.
