“Nothing happens to anyone that he is not fitted by nature to bear.” Words that best describe Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant’s comeback to the game.

He may have been out for a moment, but boy has the spirited wicketkeeper-batter not proven that he will bounce back, slowly but steadily. And it took no longer than one match in the IPL for Pant to show glimpses of his old self to the delight of all Indians.

The swashbuckling batter played a short but sweet innings of 18 off 13 balls to aid his team in setting their total of 174. But, it was from behind the stumps where he thrived today.

For Kuldeep’s second scalp, it was Jitesh Sharma, who looked to play the reverse sweep, who misjudged a delivery and did not get bat on the ball, thereby missed his footing. And it took no longer than that momentary lapse of judgment from Jitesh for Pant to pounce and scalp his wicket.

In a quick showcase of his lightning-fast reflexes, Pant had the presence of mind to enforce the stumping and dismiss the possible dangerman to pile the pressure on Punjab.

Punjab got off to a blistering start credit to the blazing innings of batters Shikhar Dhawan, Prabhsimran Singh and Sam Curran.

Despite scalping timely wickets, Punjab reamined anchored by Curran and seemed to be on track to chase down the target with ease.

That it when Kuldeep Yadav entered the bowling attack and turned the game around with two wickets.

Sam Curran though continues to punish all that face him, as the game remains on a tightrope, for either teams to grab the victory.
