T Dilip acknowledged the outstanding performances of the Indian team on the field resulting in three superb catches that were crucial to their win over Bangladesh in Kanpur.

India were a class apart across departments in the Kanpur Test as they conjured up a win out of nothing to beat Bangladesh by seven wickets. After rain and damp field kept the players waiting for over two days, Bangladesh resumed their first innings on the fourth morning at the Green Park stadium and a drawn game was the likeliest of three results. Indian bowlers and fielders combined to produce a terrific show as they first skittled Bangladesh for 233 before the batters unleashed mayhem to hit fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 to breathe life into the seemingly dying Test.

Alongside batting and bowling, the Indian fielding was at its best too. From Rohit Sharma’s one-handed catch at mid-off to Mohammed Siraj’s one-handed wonder and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s sharp collection in the gully, the outstanding catches of Indian fielders did leave an indelible impression.

The display merited fielding medals. In a clip shared by the Indian cricket team on their Instagram account, India fielding coach T Dillip pointed out the ever-improving standards of his players pointing out the contributions from captain Rohit, Jaiswal, Siraj and KL Rahul.

He compared Rohit’s catching with the reliability of a Swiss watch and the star batter reacted in his typical fashion, almost embarrassed by the public praise.

“When it comes to catching, I think he’s as reliable as Swiss watch. Rohit Sharma,” Dilip said drawing a wide smile from Rohit and an applause from the entire dressing room.

Dillip awarded two medals for the ‘Impact Fielder of the Series’, and they went to Jaiswal and Siraj.

“Whether it’s humidity in Chennai or the weather in Kanpur, I feel one thing was constant – the intent to convert those half chances into game-changing moments, very much evident. Special mention to our slip cordon and closing catchers. In conditions where reflex and concentration were tested, we were absolutely spectacular,” Dilip said on India fielders.
