Co-hosts West Indies kicked off their T20 World Cup campaign with a win over Papua New Guinea. The two-time champions will look to continue the winning momentum when they take on Uganda in the next group match.
The Group C fixture will be held at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Uganda are heading to the match high on confidence. The African nation secured their maiden win in a world cup defeating PNG by three wickets. It was a historic feat for Uganda, who are featuring at a major ICC event for the first time.
Uganda showcased their bowling strength in the last match, restricting PNG to just 77 runs. Middle-order batter Riazat Ali Shah led the chase with a 33-run knock as Uganda reached the target in 18.2 overs, losing seven wickets in the process.
On the other hand, West Indies didn’t have to struggle much to overcome PNG in their tournament opener. The Caribbean side had a target of 137 runs, which they chased down in 19 overs. Roston Chase was the top-performing batter for the West Indies with an unbeaten 42. Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran enjoyed a decent outing.
