Aligarh Muslim University, located in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, is renowned for its education worldwide. However, the future of some students at this university is currently uncertain. The academic future of 121 students is at risk due to internal conflicts within the university. Although classes began on August 1, these students have not yet been enrolled through the sports quota.
A total of 121 students were selected for admission into various courses under the sports quota at Aligarh Muslim University. The admission process commenced on August 20, with trials leading to the release of a list of selected candidates. The students were expected to pay their admission fees by September 5. Recently, allegations of irregularities in the sports quota admissions led to student protests. In response, the office of the examination controller postponed the admission process. The dispute over the position of the Games Committee Secretary is believed to be the primary cause of the disruption in the admissions process.
An inter-university sports competition is set to be held soon. Ideally, the preparations for this event should have been underway by now. The ongoing delays in the admissions process, particularly through the sports quota, are disrupting these preparations. This delay has raised concerns that the university’s performance in the upcoming competition could be adversely affected due to the lack of adequate preparation time.
In response to the situation, Prof. Syed Amjad Rizvi, the Secretary of the Games Committee, has provided an update. He mentioned that the committee is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the admissions process under the sports quota. This investigation aims at addressing any irregularities or issues that may have caused the delay. Prof. Rizvi assured that following the completion of this investigation, a new schedule for the admissions process would be released. This schedule is expected to streamline the process, allowing the university to move forward with its preparations for the inter-university sports competition.
