UGC Trains 70,000 Faculty and 1 lakh Students in ICT skills
The faculties will be trained by a particular Electronics and ICT Academy, as allotted in the state.

The University Grant Commission has released a notification regarding Faculty Development Programmes conducted by ICT and Electronic academies. According to the official statement of UGC, around 70 thousand faculty members and one lakh students have been trained under this programme. The main objective of the training is to improve faculties’ teaching effectiveness as well as enhance the employability of the students. The scheme was approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to set up seven Electronics and ICT Academies at the premier and leading academic institutions including NIT Warangal, IIITDM Jabalpur, IIT Guwahati, NIT Patna, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee and MNIT Jaipur. The programme has been launched to meet the requirement of training the faculty in the latest and emerging areas of Electronics and ICT for Engineering and other streams.

“From February to April 2021, these academies are going to deliver 10 Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) in emerging technologies as per the enclosed Brochure. Out of these, 7-FDPs would be delivered in the online Live web-conferencing mode and the remaining 3 FDPs would be available in the Intelligent Self-Paced Education (iSPED) mode,” said UGC in its statement.

The faculties will be trained by a particular Electronics and ICT Academy, as allotted in the state. The candidates willing to participate in the aforementioned programme will have to apply online through the academy’s website as mentioned under details of the respective programme.

Meanwhile, UGC has also launched several programmes under UGC Quality Mandate to improve the quality of Higher Education. These programmes include Deeksharambh, Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework for undergraduate courses, Jeevan Kaushal, Social and Industry Connect, Care, Stride, Stata, Mulya Pravah, Evaluation Reforms in HEIs, Gurudakshata and Paamarsh.
