Apart from strengthening their defensive unit, Manchester United appear to be focused on reinforcing the attacking line-up. It is being reported that Manchester United are now contemplating a move to rope in Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the January transfer window. The 34-year-old’s future with the Bavarian giants does not seem quite bright and Manchester United want to make full use of the situation by making a move for him. Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival in Manchester United has so far not proved to be quite impressive and the Red Devils need to find an attacking option soon. With Hojlund and Anthony Martial netting one Premier League goal each so far this season, Manchester United are in dire need of a prolific goal-scorer.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market specialist, recently stated that Manchester United are being kept informed about Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s situation at Bayern Munich. “Bayern Munich striker Eric Choupo-Moting is one of many names being discussed internally. It’s nothing concrete, nothing advanced yet,” Romano said, speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column.
“Still, Bayern have Harry Kane and Mathys Tel as options up front, so obviously there’s not so much space for Choupo-Moting and Man United have been informed of his situation. At the moment it’s not a negotiation, from what I’m told, but it may become one to watch. There has also been some contact with Timo Werner’s agent, but no negotiation with RB Leipzig. In general, a loan signing up front looks like a possibility for United this January,” he added.
As per BILD journalist Christian Falk, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is open to discussing his potential move to Manchester United. Falk, at the same time, claimed that there has still not been any offer tabled by Manchester United for the Cameroon international.
“There is still no offer from Manchester United for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting Bayern Munich. Club and Player would be ready to Talk. The contract of the striker is running out at the end of the Season. A move for Choupo-Moting to Saudi Arabia in Summer is also a serious option,” Christian Falk posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
Having featured in 107 matches so far for Bayern Munich, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has found the back of the net 38 times. In this season’s Bundesliga, Choupo-Moting has scored two goals till now.
