Chelsea Achieve Historic Feat With Win Against Crystal Palace In Premier League
It is the first time in Chelsea’s history that the club have managed to win against a single opponent in 13 consecutive matches.

Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League having earned a convincing 3-1 victory against Crystal Palace. Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher scored a brace to earn a resounding win against his former side Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London. With this win, Chelsea succeeded in achieving a feat that they had not accomplished in 118 years. It is the first time in Chelsea’s history that the club have managed to win against Crystal Palace in 13 consecutive matches. Squawka, a football analysis company, claimed that it was the first instance in Chelsea’s history of registering such a prolonged streak of wins against one particular opponent in the league.

Monday’s Premier League fixture against Chelsea marked Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson’s 200th match in charge of the club. Before the Premier League fixture, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino had expressed his admiration for Hodgson.

“Roy is my friend. I admire him — he’s an unbelievable coach. I think he’s working really well. There is always pressure in football when you lose one or two games, but no doubt he is going to be successful with Palace,” Mauricio Pochettino had said in the press conference.

“He has the experience to manage everything in this situation. It is going to be good to see him on Monday. For sure, we are going to share a very nice time together. From the beginning when I arrived at Southampton, he was the coach of the national team and was always at Southampton watching games and sharing time with us. We made a very good relationship. From the first moment, the feeling was very good between us. We understand football very well, the experience is there,” the Argentine added.

A stunning long-range goal scored by Jefferson Lerma gave Crystal Palace the lead in the 30th minute of the Premier League game against Chelsea. The lead, however, did not last long with Conor Gallagher scoring a much-needed equaliser just 90 seconds into the second half. The English midfielder put Chelsea ahead right after 90 minutes were played with a shot from the edge of the box. Enzo Fernandez scored the insurance goal for Chelsea in the dying minutes of the game.

Having played 24 matches so far, Chelsea now find themselves placed at the 10th spot in the Premier League standings. Chelsea currently have 34 points to their name.
