Chelsea agree compensation package with Scolari

New Delhi: The Blues have paid the sacked Brazilian off, but stories continue to circulate of behind the scenes problems at Stamford Bridge.

With Guus Hiddink seemingly on his way to Stamford Bridge take over from Luiz Felipe Scolari as Chelsea manager, at least until the end of the season, the west London club have agreed compensation with the Brazilian.

A statement on the club's official website reads, "Chelsea football club can confirm that compensation has been agreed today (Thursday) with Luiz Felipe Scolari in accordance with the terms of his contract."

"Agreement was also reached with his backroom staff Flavio Teixeira, Darlan Schneider and Carlos Pracidelli and we would like to thank them for their work at Chelsea."

Meanwhile, rumours in England have begun to grow that all was not right behind the scenes at Scolari's Chelsea, with talk that the training regime imposed by the World Cup winner on the squad didn't suit the players at the club.

"Maybe the organisation did not correspond to the players in place," Christophe Lollichon, the club's goalkeeping coach told English newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

"All in all, the problem is maybe not tactical. There was an excess of athletic preparation and in terms of the players we had, it was not normal. I could not see how it could continue in this direction. Chelsea need results to be right at the top, like Barca, Madrid or Manchester. We were on the stairwell but we were going down them. It was necessary to react. I think those in charge became aware of many things. You need to bounce back. There is a gap in the championship but they are still in the FA Cup. And there is still the incredibly important meeting with Juventus in the Champions League soon."

Chelsea also confirmed on Wednesday that Russian national team coach Guus Hiddink was in discussions about succeeding Scolari, but the Dutchman announced he would not be hurried into making a quick decision.
