London: The biggest match of the English Premier League season so far failed to live up to its hype as Chelsea came from behind to hold Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at home at Stamford Bridge.
The result saw Chelsea protect its impressive home record, they have not lost since 2004.
Manchester United had the better of the early exchanges and went into the lead in the eighteenth minute.
Patrice Evra making a great run and playing in Dimitar Berbatov whose shot was feebly blocked by Petar Check.
Pak Ji Sung had the easiest of tap-ins for goal.
However, the joy soon evaporated as Manchester United keeper Van Der Sar had to go off with an injury.
Chelsea pressed on but were denied by some poor finishing.
Their dreadful finishing continued in the second half with Nicolas Anelka missing a sitter but they finally drew level with substitute Salomon Kalou heading in a freekick.
The draw means Chelsea cannot go to the top of the table. Arsenal remain on top.
