London: Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi is keen on a move to Chelsea but the London club will have to meet his staggering wage demands. Chelsea new boss Jose Mourinho has failed with two previous attempts to land the Italian international but is hoping it will be a case of third time lucky as he plans another move for the player.
De Rossi also turned down a move to Manchester City last summer in favour of staying in Rome, but sources close to the player suggest he would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League with Chelsea.
De Rossi is reported to be on £5.5million-a-year but given the Chelsea's spending power that won't be a problem for them. Mourinho wants De Rossi to be their main man at the heart of the midfield.
Chelsea are also closing in on Napoli striker Edison Cavani in a deal that could break British transfer record.
