Marrakech (Morocco): FIFA president Sepp Blatter arrived here to take part in the 35th Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ordinary General Assembly. CAF president Issa Hayatou of Cameroon will be re-elected unopposed for a final four-year term as its president.
There will also be elections for the CAF Executive Committee members as well as the continent's representative to the FIFA Executive Committee for 2013-17, reports Xinhua.
Cote d'Ivoirian Jacques Anouma, one of the four Africans on the FIFA Executive Committee, wanted to oppose Hayatou but a change to the election rules disqualified him.
Anouma and the Cote d'Ivorian and Liberian football associations made four appeals to the Switzerland-based Court for Arbitration in Sport (CAS) in an effort to overturn the ruling but it backed CAF each time.
