New Delhi: Romanian defender Christian Chivu has said Inter Milan can progress in the Champions League and is also looking forward to Sunday night's match against Roma.
Inter seem to have one vital game after another at the moment. With their draw at home against Manchester United barely yet a memory, they must prepare to face Roma in Serie A.
Judging by the Giallorossi’s display in London on Tuesday, they may not have enough firepower to trouble the Italian champions, especially if Francesco Totti does not recover from his knee injury.
In an interview wit Sky 24, the Nerazzurri’s Christian Chivu said he is not taking any chances. Having played in the capital for Roma, the Romanian knows it will not be easy.
"Roma are a great side with a great manager, and they will certainly be coming here to win," he said.
"They had a tough start to the season, but now they have recovered, and are a force to be reckoned with.
"Now they know they can fulfil their objectives and one of them is certainly to win the title. I know that is what (Roma boss Luciano) Spalletti thinks, even if he does not say it."
The defender also believes the Beneamata are good enough to trouble Manchester United at Old Trafford.
"We have actually done better away from home in Europe this season," the 28-year-old stated, "They caused us trouble in the first half, but I think, despite the fact that their fans will be behind them, we can be optimistic, knowing a score draw would be enough."
