Margao: Substitute Tolgay Ozbey scored an injury time goal as dominant FC Goa rallied from behind to beat Delhi Dynamos 2-1 and register their maiden win in the inaugural Indian Super League, on Saturday.
Ozbey snatched the winner for the FC Goa in the 90th minute before Shaikh Jewel Raja (72nd) equalised for the hosts after the Dynamos were put ahead as early as in the seventh minute of the match by skipper Mads Junker.
The win takes FC Goa up the table with four points from five matches, while the Delhi side remained on six points from five games.
FC Goa coach Zico made three changes bringing in Mandar Rao Dessai, Romeo Fernandes and Jewel Raja and the move paid off as the trio put the opponent under tremendous pressure, especially in the second half to score the stunning win.
FC Goa, who were looking for their first win, started on a promising note as they made inroads and had two early chances to take the lead but striker Miroslav Slepicka failed on both occasions.
The visitors, on the other hand, played a composed game and tried to catch the rival defence on wrong foot with counter-attacks.
The Dynamos play paid off as they took the lead in the seventh minute when Junker scored from the second attempt. It was Hans Mulder who orchestrated the from the middle and relayed the ball to Bruno Herrero Arias on the right who in turn send a goalmouth cross for Junker to do the rest.
The home team got a double blow when they lost their play maker Andre Santos after he got injured while going for a tackle with Stijin Houben.
But that did not deter FC Goa as they continued to enjoy the midfield superiority and came up with couple of good moves but once again the tale of miss chances continued as Miroslav Slepicka first saw his header deflected by a rival defender and went out and latter Jewel Raja missed an open chance after being fed by Romeo Fernandes' cross from the right.
The trend continued in the second half as well as FC Goa made repeated forays but their strikers failed to utilize the chances.
FC Goa, however, found the equailser in the 72nd minute when a move from the left saw Mandar Rao Dessai send a lofted cross to Fernandes who in turn made a goalmouth header for Shaikh Jewel Raja to head home at the far post.
The goal spurred the home team to go for the kill and expectedly they went all out for the winner which they finally managed to achieve in the 90th minute.
A swift move from the middle saw Slepicka put substitute Ozbey with a delightful pass who chests it well and tricks the Dynamos goalkeeper Kristof Van Hout off his mark and steers the ball in to send the home crowd into a frenzy.
