Kolkata: Atletico de Kolkata forward Iain Hume, who is playing as the sole striker in the absence of injured Helder Postiga, said it was a matter of time before the team bounces back in the ISL football tournament.
Hume not in the scoring tally has hurt ATK badly as they have picked two back to back defeats (against Pune and NorthEast United FC), a first for the defending champions.
"I'm getting chances but unfortunately I'm yet to score... At times, that happens in football. I would be more worried if I'm or the team is not creating chances.
"My job is to score and I'm doing my job setting goals. I'm working hard, doing everything that's possible.
It's not a worry. The League is still a long way to go. If I get a zero at the end of the season than I'll be a lot worried. It's just keep progressing and keep working hard," Hume told a news conference on the eve of their match against Delhi Dynamos.
Injury to their Portuguese World Cupper and marquee player Postiga has dealt a big blow as their title defence has come under threat after being slipped to fifth place with losses in Pune and Guwahati.
"It's hard to replace to Helder. He makes a job a lot easier. I'm eagerly happy playing as the main striker or No 2.
I am adaptable where I can do a job for the team. The fact that I've been able to start in all the matches gives me a lot of confidence. I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow," the former Canada international said.
On the injury woes, Hume said: "We are not only the team to have injuries but we have the team to fill in the gaps.
Hopefully we will get the result."
Giving an update on Postiga, chief coach Antonio Habas said the marquee player will be back with the team within a week.
"He will be back in seven days after completing first phase of his recovery then we will have to assess his fitness," Habas said.
On form, DDFC may be ahead but Habas said anything can be possible.
"I don't want to talk about the opponents. I've many problem in my team to talk about. The situation is good for Delhi but anything can happen during the 90 minutes."
On the two back to back defeats, a first for the defending champions, Habas said: "In football sometimes you cannot control the result. I prefer to remain a clean slate.
we're fighting to get the balance during the game. I prefer a 2-1 win than losing 0-1 but it's not possible to win all matches."
