With Gabriel Jesus missing some crucial games so far this season, Arsenal have felt the need to have a proper goal-scoring option in their roster. In Jesus’ absence, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta relied on Eddie Nketiah and the Englishman did a formidable job so far this season. With the January transfer window now underway, the London-based side have started finding a suitable striker. Arsenal have already been linked with Brentford striker Ivan Toney and the Gunners have now reportedly expressed their desire to rope in Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic. A report published by Calciomercato claims that rumours in England suggest, Arsenal are willing to offer around 60 million euros to lure Vlahovic away from the Serie A outfit.
The Calciomercato article, however, claims that Dusan Vlahovic is happy in Turin and his relationship with the rest of his Juventus teammates has been excellent. The Serbian international also feels that he is appreciated by Bianconeri but his contract extension has been slow in taking place, as per Calciomercato.
Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli recently talked about the prospects of Dusan Vlahovic leaving the club for Arsenal in the January transfer window. Giuntoli categorically rejected talks of the Serbian moving to London. Giuntoli even stated that Vlahovic is not for sale. “Bid from Arsenal for Dusan Vlahović? We don’t know anything about that story, there’s nothing. Vlahovic is NOT for sale,” Giuntoli said, as per Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market specialist.
Having joined Juventus in 2022, Dusan Vlahovic has so far scored 29 goals in 80 appearances for the Italian side. In the Serie A, the 23-year-old has till now registered six goals and two assists for Juventus this season.
Arsenal’s interest in signing Dusan Vlahovic is not something new and the Premier League giants had expressed their desire to land him from Fiorentina two years back. But Vlahovic was understood to be interested in moving to a Champions League side and wished to stay in Italy.
Having displayed a sensational series of performances, Arsenal’s dreams of winning the Premier League shattered last season. Arsenal ended their 2022-23 Premier League campaign at the second spot, five points behind eventual champions Manchester City. Arsenal are currently placed at the fourth spot in the Premier League standings with five points behind table toppers Liverpool. Arsenal will next face Liverpool in an FA Cup third-round fixture on Sunday, January 7.
