Transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano has shut down the rumours of Darwin Nunez’s potential move to Arsenal. Liverpool have been one of the busiest teams in this summer window in terms of releasing players. They have shown the exit door to Sepp van den Berg, Fabio Carvalho and Bobby Clark on permanent deals while some youngsters have left on loan. As per several media reports, Nunez would also part ways with Liverpool ahead of the deadline day, with Arsenal showing interest in the Uruguayan forward. Romano, known for his apt transfer updates, recently addressed Nunez’s situation while speaking on Playback.
About Arsenal’s reported interest in Nunez, Romano said, “I have absolutely no idea where this is coming from. I had many questions on my X account, my Instagram account, and everywhere about Darwin Nunez, so I think it’s worth saying something about this,” as quoted by Sportskeeda.
“I was calling some of my sources to understand about Darwin. First of all, I saw some rumours about Arsenal – nothing! There is absolutely nothing between Arsenal, Liverpool, Darwin and the agents of Darwin. Nothing!” he added.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool had no intention of releasing Darwin Nunez this summer and the footballer is also enjoying his time at Anfield, under the newly appointed boss Arne Slot. “Let me repeat, Darwin is not going to Arsenal, and Darwin is not leaving Liverpool. He is not desperate to leave at all this summer, he is very relaxed and happy with Arne Slot.,” the Italian journalist said, as per GiveMeSport.
Romano further shed light on Nunez’s personal life, saying, “I am also hearing very positive things about Darwin recently, in terms of private life, he’s taking care of himself in a special way. He wants to focus 100% on football in the best way possible. I’m only receiving positive feedback on the situation.”
Darwin Nunez was not part of Liverpool’s starting line-up in the first two Premier League matches this season. His current contract with the Reds will expire in the summer of 2028. The 25-year-old forward showcased his talent in the last campaign when Jurgen Klopp was at the helm. He featured in 54 matches across all competitions and found the net 18 times.
Nunez will hope to make his first Premier League appearance of this season when Liverpool take on Manchester United in an away fixture on September 1.
