New Delhi: The summer will not come quickly enough for Real Madrid after they slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat.

The reconstruction of Real Madrid in the summer may take more than a few new players and a new president as the team showed that morale has reached a new low against Real Mallorca.

After an incredible unbeaten run that saw them maintain a title race, four consecutive defeats have seen the paper well and truly come off the cracks with so many star names looking unmotivated and disinterested.

Juan Arango, Cleber Santana and Alhassane Keita all scored to give the Balearic visitors a memorable win in the Santiago Bernabeu and virtually ensure that Juande Ramos will not be kept on as head coach.

When Los Blancos were still in the championship hunt, their supporters allowed their team to not necessarily produce great football without criticising them because they were enjoying watching Barcelona have to work for their silverware.

But all the frustrations that have been bubbling under the surface came out during this encounter as various players, including Arjen Robben and Royston Drenthe, were jeered.

The fact that the arena was nowhere near full was a clear indication that many are already waiting for the supposed revolution, but the supporters that did attend made their feelings known.

Madrid may have been off form and looking like a team a very long way from the Barcelona side that many have said they must mirror, Mallorca played well and that cannot be hidden amongst all the analysis of the hosts.

Even before they went behind in the 19th minute, the visitors played the more cohesive football but they were beaten by a Gonzalo Higuain's header as he connected with Rafael van der Vaart's cross at the near post.

The lead lasted just five minutes as Madrid's fragile defence was exposed when Juan Arango tucked the ball under the approaching Iker Casillas after Aritz Aduriz had powered through the middle.

Ramos' side did raise their game with Higuain and Raul going close, while Van der Vaart and Robben looked to find a way through by themselves against a Mallorca team that stood firm and repelled them.

Fabio Cannavaro's exit was one moment when the home fans cheered in unison as the Italian defender waved goodbye to the Spanish club in his last home game before he rejoins Juventus in the summer.

Within two minutes of his departure, Cleber had shown why the veteran defender will be missed as he netted a superb effort that the Madrid fans applauded following a run that saw him beat three players.

In the 70th minute the game was effectively over as substitute Keita skipped past his marker and hammered a shot inside the top near corner of the net and that sparked a mass exodus.

While Madrid's players struggled on, many in the stands were saying goodbye to their neighbours in the Bernabeu seats with messages of see you next season as things could not be much worse than this.

Los Merengues' coach said during the week that he doubts if he will be kept on next season and after the last four games he could now state that as a fact with Florentino Perez drawing and redrawing his plan of action.

The presidential elect must have watched this match and wondered just what he is getting himself into as the players were booed off the pitch.
