Sunderland: Southampton ended a turbulent week on and off the pitch by squandering an early two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.

The visitors put aside days of boardroom turmoil that saw chairman Nicola Cortese resign on Wednesday by scoring volleys through Jay Rodriguez in the fourth minute and Dejan Lovren in the 31st.

After being overrun in the opening stages, Sunderland hit back within a minute as Italian forward Fabio Borini reduced the deficit with a volley on the turn.

And in-form Adam Johnson completed the comeback by equalizing in the 71st with a right-foot shot that should have been kept out by Southampton goalkeeper Artur Boruc. The result keeps the home side in the relegation zone.
