Tottenham Hotspur are finally addressing their lack of firepower up front as latest reports state that former Chelsea and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has agreed on an initial loan deal.
It has been reported that the deal is supposed to keep the German with Spurs till the end of the 2023-24 season, for a fee in the region of €15-20 million.
Werner’s wages till the end of the season is set to be covered by Tottenham for the remainder of the season and it is expected that the striker will undergo medical tests in the coming days.

This will be Werner’s second spell in the Premier League given he swapped RB Leipzig for Chelsea in for a fee of £47.5million in 2020 but was unable to replicate his Bundesliga goal-scoring form and ended up serving an unsuccessful term with the Blues.
He scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for the Blues, following which he returned to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 to recalibrate and reinvent himself again.
The numbers are still not necessarily favourable to Werner, who has featured 14 times for RB Leipzig so far this term, scoring two goals and recording one assist. But, with the lack of Heung Min Son in the upcoming weeks and the lack of an out-and-out striker in the side, Spurs will take the gamble in hopes that he helps Ange Postecoglou’s side get back to their winning from from earlier this season.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be without club captain Heung-Min Son for at least a month due to his participation in the Asia Cup and there are fears Alejo Veliz has suffered a long-term knee injury.
Leipzig issued a statement on their official social media channels on Saturday confirming the Germany international had been left out of their squad for a friendly against Swiss Super League side St Gallen while he holds talks with another club.
Werner scored 93 goals and made 40 assists in 157 appearances in his first majorly successful spell with the German side.
