Select the music that you want. Any music will work as long as it's in .mp3 or .wav format. Using .mp3 files is recommended, since the game sometimes has problems reading .wav files. .mp3 files need to have a bitrate of 320kbit/s or smaller. .wav files need to have a bitrate of 1411kbit/s or smaller.
Open your game's Music directory. This is located under Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Music. If you're playing the Super Collection on a Mac, the directory will be located under [username] > Library > Containers > com.aspyr.sims2.appstore > Data > Library > Application Support > Aspyr > The Sims 2 > Music.
Choose the station you want. There will be several subfolders in the Music folder whose names will align with the genre on the radio (for example, "pop"). You don't need to put the music into the "correct" genre folder - it just needs to be in a subfolder. (However, you cannot create new folders.) There are also subfolders for Create-a-Sim, Build mode, Buy mode, and the Neighborhood music.
Drop the audio files into the folder(s). You can copy the files in or just place them in directly. (However, making a shortcut to the file won't work.)
Start your game.
Open the Audio settings. Click ... on the UI in the lower left, and select the speaker icon.
Check the station you placed the music into. If you added the file in correctly, it should appear in the appropriate station. The game will usually enable the new music by default. To enable or disable songs, click on the circle next to the song title.
