Reaching Out on Social Media
Message @chrishansen on Twitter to catch him where he’s most active. Chris Hansen maintains an official Twitter account where he regularly tweets about various subjects and posts updates about his podcast. If you use Twitter, look him up at @chrishansen and look for the blue “verified” checkmark to make sure it’s him. Click the envelope next to his username to send him a message. You can tweet him if you want, but Chris Hansen doesn’t reply publicly to users on Twitter. It’s worth a shot if he doesn’t reply to your direct message, though. There’s evidence that he reads the comments since he occasionally retweets things that users say. Out of all of his social media accounts, Hansen appears to be most active on Twitter.
Visit officialchrishansen on Instagram to message him there. On Instagram, type “officialchrishansen” into the search bar to find his profile. Make sure it’s the account with the blue “verified” check next to his name. Click the tab that says “Message” next to his account name to send him a direct message. He doesn’t reply publicly to users on Instagram, but it’s the only social media where he posts things about his personal life, so he may be more likely to read comments there. If he doesn’t reply to your DM, try commenting publicly on one of his posts.
Contact him through the Facebook page for his podcast, Have a Seat. After leaving NBC, Chris Hansen started a podcast on YouTube called Have a Seat. Type “Chris Hansen” into the search bar on Facebook and scroll down to his page, titled “Have a Seat With Chris Hansen.” Click the profile and press the blue “Message” button next to his name to send him a direct message. He doesn’t respond publicly to commenters on his posts, but the comment sections are fairly empty so you may stand out if you try to reach him here as well. Chris Hansen rarely comments on this page. He basically only posts scheduling updates about when his podcast is going live. This is likely the least effective option.
Live-Chatting on His Podcast
Follow Chris Hansen on Twitter or Facebook to get updates. Chris Hansen’s podcast, Have a Seat, is live-streamed on YouTube. However, other than always streaming at 8 pm EST, he doesn’t appear to keep a regular schedule. Follow him on Twitter or Facebook to get a notification when his show is about to go live. Chris Hansen’s show has a live chat function. He occasionally checks the live chat throughout the show and on occasion responds to people at the end of the show. You can try contacting him this way. The reason this may work is because his live chat is fairly inactive when he live-streams the podcasts. Each episode gets tens of thousands of views, but relatively few people type in the chat.
Look out for notifications when he’s going live. On the days when he’s airing a podcast, Hansen will post a reminder between 3 pm and 6 pm EST to let people know when the show is going live. Keep an eye out for these updates so that you can hop in at the beginning of his show to try and reach out. Sign into your YouTube account before the show starts so you can comment on the live chat. You must be signed in to YouTube to comment on live streams.
Comment in his chat before the show starts and after the show ends. Type your question or comment out ahead of time and copy it so that you can post it quickly in the chat. As soon as the show starts, paste your comment or question into the chat to see if he responds. Do this when the show ends as well if he didn’t say anything the first time. He may reach out after the show or respond immediately when he sees your comment. Don’t spam his chat by pasting the same comment or question over and over again. He has moderators in his live chat that will ban you from commenting if you get on their nerves. Don’t bother typing when he’s interviewing or talking to someone on his show. He doesn’t check the live chat while the show is actively running.
