Things You Should Know
  • Search for your issue in Google Support. Look through the list of common issues or search for your particular problem using the search function.
  • Click the "Contact Us" button if it's available. From there, you can "Request Callback" (if it is available for your issue) or "Request Chat."
  • For legal or other requests, navigate to the Google contact page and choose your specific location or issue.

Checking the Help Center

Search for your issue in the Google Support menus first. Visit the Google support page and click on the application that you’re having an issue with. Browse through the common problems and suggestions to see if your issue is listed. If it is, click on the option and follow the directions to fix it. If you still can’t find your issue, then try searching for it in the search bar at the top of the window. You can find Google Support here: https://support.google.com/. The support menus list the most common issues or complaints that Google receives, so your specific problem may not be listed.

Check the community forums to see if anyone else has had similar issues. After clicking on the Google application that’s giving you trouble, look at the top left corner of the window for the “Community” option. Click it to enter the community forums where other people have posted their issues. Browse and search through the community forums for the issue you’re having to see if someone else has posted about it and check the comments for any solutions. Sometimes official Google support specialists will respond to posts in the community forums with helpful fixes or links to help you. If you don’t find your issue, you can write a new forum post so others can find it as well. Don’t post any private account information in your post since it will be publicly displayed.

Click the “Contact Us” button on your issue if it’s available. Check if the option you selected from the Google Support page has a blue button labeled “Contact Us” on the bottom left of the page. When you click on it, a menu will appear with more common problems related to issue listed on the page. Scroll through the options on the menu and select the one is similar to your problem. Not every issue listed will have a “Contact Us” button, so you may need to select a different issue that’s related to what you’re experiencing.

Select “Request Callback” if you want to talk on the phone with support. You may be given contact options when you select your issue from the menu after clicking the “Contact Us” button. If there’s a selection labeled “Request Callback,” select it and fill out your phone number and the issue you’re having. Include any error messages you received in your description so the support specialist knows what the problem is. Click the “Call Me” button at the bottom of the form and wait for support to reach out to you. Sometimes the “Request Callback” option may be listed as unavailable, so you’ll need to use a different method instead. The phone call may come from an unrecognized or international number, so some spam filters may try to block it.Tip: Make sure you’re logged into the Google account that’s associated with the problem so support can look through your information.

Choose “Request Chat” to communicate with support online. If the callback feature is unavailable or you’d prefer to message a support specialist, select the “Request Chat” option from the menu. Provide your name and the issue that you’re experiencing in the form provided and then click the “Submit” button on the bottom of the page. Customer support will send you a chat once they are available so you can talk and figure out the problem. You cannot use the chat feature to request a refund from the Google Play store since there is a separate form you need to fill out.

Submitting a Legal Request

Click on the appropriate legal inquiry from the menu on Google’s contact page. Log onto the contact page on the Google website and look for the “Legal Inquiries” heading in the bottom right corner. Select the option from the menu based on what sort of information you need or problem you need to solve. Once you click an option, it will take you to a new page with specific help and forms for your issue. You can find the list of legal inquiries here: https://www.google.co.uk/contact/ Choose the “Remove illegal content” if you find something that’s against the law that you think Google should remove from its site or searches. Sometimes, there’s nothing that Google can do until you take further legal action with other involved parties.

Send a civil request to Google by mail if you need user data for a legal case. An attorney or an individual involved in a civil legal case can submit a request for user data if it’s important to the case. Write a request letter that specifically states which Google service you’re requesting data for and list any email addresses for the person you need it for. Send the request to: Google LLC; c/o Custodian of Records; 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway; Mountain View, CA 94043; United States of America.
