Open Google Sheets in your internet browser. Type sheets.google.com into the address bar, and hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard.

Click a spreadsheet file. Find the file you want to edit on the list of your saved spreadsheets, and open it.

Click an empty cell. Find an empty cell to use for your numerator value, and click it.

Enter your numerator value into the empty cell. The numerator is the number at the top of a fraction. You don't have to enter an integer for your numerator or denominator. Feel free to use decimal values here.

Click another empty cell. Find an empty cell for your denominator value, and click it.

Enter your denominator value into the cell. The denominator is the number at the bottom of a fraction. You will divide your numerator by your denominator.

Click another empty cell for your division formula. Find an empty cell for your formula anywhere on the spreadsheet, and click it.

Enter =num/den into the empty formula cell. This is the simple division formula, which will make an exact calculation for you. In the division formula, num represents your numerator, and den represents the denominator.

Replace num and den with their corresponding cell numbers. Find the exact column letter and row number for your numerator and denominator cells, and insert the cell numbers into the raw formula. For example, if your numerator value is in cell A1, and your denominator is in cell A2, your formula should look like =A1/A2.

Hit ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return on your keyboard. This will make the calculation, and show the results in the formula cell.
