Place about a 1/2 cup of ice in the blender.
Decide which kind of fruit you want to use in your smoothie, and prepare them by peeling, cutting, removing seeds, etc.
Combine different kinds of fruit, such as: banana and strawberry, kiwi and strawberry, orange and apple, apple and banana, etc. Use your imagination and mix what sounds best to you!
Add fruit juice to enhance the flavor, such as grape juice or grapefruit juice, apple juice, etc. What separates a smoothie from just a glass of juice is that it is mixed with something that thickens it into a shake-like consistency. You have several options for this thickener: yogurt, sherbet, sorbet, ice cream, gelato, and ice all work. You might have noticed that some of those options are healthier than others, and you'll have to decide whether you want to optimize for flavor or nutrition in your smoothie.
