How to Quit Being a Lazy Photographer
How to Quit Being a Lazy Photographer
Being a lazy photographer is not something that you want to be, but it is way too easy to be one. Read here to learn how to change your ways.
Steps

Read the manual. Get to know your camera and your camera model's idiosyncrasies. Learn what can and can't be done with it. All models are different from one another, for example Canon vs. Nikon. Even if there's common components, there's always something different about their results.

Get off your butt. Don't just sit and talk about it...maybe get more gear, so you can 'try' that...etc. Sure, you can do a lot of things with table photography (if you bother), but that is just the tip of the iceberg.

Study art and master photographers. Look at how they utilize the light and colors. Learn what looks best and why it looks best. It can also help you determine your photographic niche.

Do what you have to do to catch the light. Dawn and dusk (and the gradual changes before and after sunrise and sunset) are, bar none, the best light to shoot, at least if you want to use natural light. If you're a thrifty photographer, make your own reflectors from common household items. Make one from a recyclable jug, paper plates, or from a Pringles can.

Focus on one subject. Take a picture of Jack in the living room. Don't take the picture of the living room with Jack in it.

Take on 'projects'. Possible projects are taking a photo a day, or a week, or maybe volunteering at the local kennel to help photograph their animals that need to be adopted. All of these will get you up and using your head and your photography.

What's your reaction?
