In December 2021, a Telugu film — without a big star cast — released exclusively on the streaming giant Disney+Hotstar and became a sleeper hit. We are talking about Ma Oori Polimera, which starred Baladitya, Kamakshi Bhaskarla and Satyam Rajesh. Ma Oori Polimera was a suspense thriller with supernatural elements and revolved around a murder mystery, set against the backdrop of a village known for black magic and witchcraft.
Following the critical appreciation the film received, demand for a sequel was high. Last year, a sequel to the film was announced. Now, the trailer of Ma Oori Polimera 2 has just been released. Going by the trailer, it is evident that the makers have moved a notch higher in terms of suspense and thrill.
Dr Anil Biswanath returns to direct the sequel, and most of the cast of the original has been retained including Baladitya, Kamaksh, Getap Srinui and Satyam Rajesh. Released five days ago, the trailer of Ma Oori Polimera 2 has not only met with a great response but also achieved a record feat. In just 5 days, it has created a rare record of being the second most-watched trailer in India for a Disney+Hotstar film.
The makers have already announced that the film will have a release on November 3 on Disney+Hotstar. From the trailer, it can be deduced that the rustic rural background has been retained. This time, however, the focus will be on a temple in a village. A police officer and an archaeologist set out to find out the link between brutal murders and black magic in Mahbubnagar; and all of this happens to be related to a temple which holds certain secrets. From the look of it, sorcery and the clash between science and superstition will play an important part in the film. The film is said to have been shot in Paderu, Kerala and Uttarakhand.
