KARIMNAGAR: About 11 peacocks have been found dead in an open area near Nookalamarri in Vemulawada mandal on Wednesday. The villagers said they found the bodies scattered near fields where paddy and other grains were being cultivated. The peacocks might have died about three days ago because eight of the carcasses were in a decomposed state. The issue came to light when one of the villagers, Tirupati, while going to the forest to collect firewood found the bodies. The villagers said that they had informed forest officials about the death of the birds. But they had not visited the village when reports reached here last. When contacted DFO West division Priyanka Verghese said that she does not have any information about the death of peacocks. She said she would enquire about it and alert her subordinates.
