BANGALORE: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by his friends at Hanumagiri Betta in Subramanyapura police station limits on Monday evening. The motive for the killing is yet to be ascertained. The victim has been identified as Abhishek, a class VIII student at Ittamadu Government High School. He was a resident of Kuvempunagar 12th Cross in Ittamadu and was staying with his mother Lakshmamma, elder brother Praveen, an autorickshaw driver, and sister Bhavya, a class VI student. His father, Eeregowda, an autorickshaw driver, had deserted the family and was staying in Mysore.Police said Abhishek went to meet friends after his exams on Monday but did not return home. On Tuesday morning, passersby noticed a body at Hanumagiri Betta and informed the police.Abhishek’s brother Praveen identified the body.“Abhishek, after leaving home, had gone to Hanumagiri Betta to meet four of his friends. His friends asked him to join them for a swim but Abhishek refused.Later, the four picked up a quarrel with him and stabbed him eight times in his abdomen, neck, chest and head and escaped. Prima facie, it appears they had planned the murder. Abhishek is said to have assaulted his friends in the afternoon and the boys must have killed him to avenge that,” police said.Bhavya, the victim’s sister said, “Since he did not return home, we searched for him and also called our aunt in Mysore to check whether he had gone there. But in the morning we were shocked when a neighbour informed us about his murder.” Subramanyapura police detained two minors in this regard.
