17 shops burgled in Kannur

KANNUR: As many as 17 shops on the premises of  the old bus stand here were burgled on Saturday night.Two computers and cash amounting to Rs 3,500 were stolen from an electrical shop. The shutters of the shops were opened by a suspected gang of thieves late on Saturday night.  Textiles and electrical items were stolen from a shop. Since Sunday was a holiday for many traders, not many of them had kept cash or other valuables in their shops. Still, the attempt made by the gang to burgle  more than a dozen shops at the centre of the town  stunned the police and the public.The police have launched an investigation into the theft with the support of fingerprint experts.
