19 IPS officers transferred in Punjab
The less than a week old Punjab govt transferred 19 senior IPS officers in the first major administrative reshuffle.

New Delhi: The Punjab government led by Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday transferred 19 senior IPS officers, including A P Pandey who headed the Vigilance Bureau during the Amarinder Singh regime when corruption cases against the Akalis were registered.

It was during Pandey's tenure that the Bureau registered corruption cases against SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal, his family members and other Akali leaders immediately after the Congress government assumed power in 2002 and launched its drive against corruption.

Pandey and seven officers have not been given new postings in the first major administrative reshuffle made by the less than a week old SAD-BJP alliance government, an official spokesman said.

The Intelligence wing ADGP J P Birdi and two IGPs R P Sindhawa have been moved out.

While Birdi has been posted as ADGP, Railways at Patiala the posting orders of Singh and Randhawa would be issued later on, he said.

Another officer to be shifted out of the Vigilance Bureau, IGP-cum-Director C S R Reddy has also not been given any fresh posting.
