HYDERABAD: It was a dream come true for 22 Sikh couples who entered into a wedlock at a mass marriage ceremony held here on Sunday. The happiest of them were the couples’ parents who never dreamt of their sons and daughters getting married in such a grand and befitting manner that too without the usual expenditure involved in performing marriages. Prabhandak Committee president S.Harbans Singh and general secretary S.Iqbal Singh said the brides and bridegrooms hailed from Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharastra, Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Warangal, Aurangabad and other places. The mass marriage ceremony started with a colourful ‘Baraat’ with bridegrooms coming on horses from Asha Singh Bagh Gurudwara, Sikh Chawni to Gurudwara Barambala Saheb. ‘Anand Karaj’, soleminsing of marriage was performed at 11 a.m.This unique service was provided by the Prabhandak Committee Gurudwara Saheb Barambala keeping in view that many Sikh families who cannot afford to perform lavish weddings that require heavy expenditure.All the Sikh Gurudwaras in the city extended support for these marriages. Various Gurudwara committees, individuals presented domestic articles to the couples. The Prabhandak Committee made all arrangements for the marriages.
