A 23-year-old man was found dead at the residence of his girlfirend, with his family alleging that he was murdered in Kadaghata village of Nadia district. Bibhas Biswas was found hanging from a window grill with his leather belt in the girl's home at the village under Krishnaganj police station on Friday.
Badal Biswas, the victim's father said, "The girl called my son over telephone late on Friday night to meet her urgently. "After receiving her call, my son went to the girl's house. The girl later informed one of his friends at about 2:30 on Saturday that Bibhas had committed suicide at her home," the father said.
"It was a cold blooded murder, not suicide," he alleged. Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Dibyajyoti Das, said after receiving a complaint of murder against five members of the girl's family, three including the girl were detained, while the other two were absconding. "After getting the post-mortem report, it will be confirmed whether it was a murder or suicide," he said. Local people said that the young man had an affair with the girl, a neighbour, for long, but her family were opposed to it.
