New Delhi: The footprints of the Mumbai attack terrorists were traced down to Pakistan's port city of Karachi by Geo News. The al-Falah area in the Defence Housing Society in Karachi was where Ajmal Kasab, Hammad Amin Sadiq and their associates lived, planned and trained.
Geo news found that everyone around the area knew about Sadiq, who had been living in there for four years. They said there was nothing suspicious about him in an interview to Geo News.
Geo News: How long was he staying here?
Neighbour: He was here for only 20 days, but he was living in this other house just opposite here for four years.
Geo News: So when did the arrest happen?
Neighbour: January 21 I think.
Geo News: Who was he living with?
Neighbour: His family, two children and his wife. I didn't notice any suspicious behaviour in four years. I am suprised that he was labelled as a key accused.
And Kasab and others lived in diguise for a while at a house that belonged to Hamad Sadiq's uncle, Lala Yasin. The place also housed Jamaat-ud-Dawa men who knew boat riding.
Geo News: It is said that some of these people were living next door. What do you know about it?
Yasin: They were young people who drove boats and were employed by Jamaat-ud-Dawa.
Geo News: How many were they?
Yasin: Three to four boys.
Geo News: You know their names?
Yasin: They kept changing names. I was in touch with one called Sultan. Later the team told me his name was Amjad.
The attackers then moved on to their penultimate destination - Karach's slum area, Yusufgoth. Kasab and his men were briefed about the Mumbai attack and were even trained in a house there.
A Geo News reporter reached in Yosufgoth and interviewed some residents of the area asking them whether they had witnessed any police investigations.
Man: I saw the police come here about 15 days back.
Geo News: What did the police do here?
Man: They took out 15 black bags. I don't know inside them.
The house, now partly sealed, has significant evidence preserved by the FIA. One of the walls has an India map and the other with a world map painted on a wall. The investigation team even found three rubber boats, life jackets and other maps.
