2G: SC to hear Presidential Reference today

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear the Presidential Reference in the 2G spectrum case on Thursday and decide on its maintainability and merit.

The issues that will be heard include whether it is mandatory for the Government to distribute all natural resources only through a public auction as directed in the apex court's February 2nd ruling or whether the Government can choose any other method such as the first-come-first-served for their allocation.

The Supreme Court ruling will decide the manner in which the government can distribute natural resources.

The government is seeking clarity on which resources need to be auctioned and which can be allotted on a first come-first serve basis.
