45-year-old woman stabbed at Birkera-Tongritoli Village over witchcraft charges

A woman, whose children accused some people of calling her witch , has been killed by unknown persons in Gumla district, the police said on Monday.

The body, bearing stab signs, of forty five-year-old Bitni Devi at Birkera-Tongritoli Village under Raidih police Station was recovered in the morning, the police said. It bore stabbings.

In their complaint to the police, the women's sons, Arjun and Bhairon, alleged that their mother was a victim of superstition as some called her witch  in the village, the police said.
