Ahmedabad: Seven people have been detained in connection with the murder of Narodia Patia riots witness and RTI activist Nadeem Sayed in Ahmedabad. Sayed, a witness of the Narodia Patia massacre during the 2002 Gujarat riots was attacked and killed in Ahmedabad on the morning of November 5.
He was attacked by unidentified persons in Juhapura area of Ahmedabad and was declared brought dead by the hospital.
The court hearing the Naroda Patia case had recorded his statements a couple of months back. The massacre at Naroda Patia in which 95 people were killed took place on February, 28, 2002 following the communal riots after the Sabarmati Express train burning incident near the Godhra station.
Sayed, a Congress worker, had filed several PILs in the Gujarat High Court over sanitation issues in the Juhapura area too. He had also filed cases against several political leaders in the state.
